Frequently Asked Questions

Does CNS Barcode work with with FM Go 12+?

Yes, CNS Barcode does work with FM Go 12+.

The FileMaker script protocol has changed beginning with FileMaker/FM Go 12, so you will need to update your scripting to properly work with FM Go 12+. In the original FM Go (now known as FM Go 11), the script protocol used the “fmp7script” keyword like this:

fmp7script://$/mydb?script=My%20Script&param=something

In FileMaker/FM Go 12+, this has changed to just “fmp”. The previous example would now look like:

fmp://$/mydb?script=My%20Script&param=something

Does CNS Barcode work on the iPod Touch?

Version 2.0 of CNS Barcode runs great on the 5th and 6th generation iPod touches. It does, however, require at least iOS 8.1. So, while the 4th generation iPod Touch has a camera, it can only run up to iOS 6.1.6, and therefore cannot run version 2 of CNS Barcode.

You may be able to install an older version of the app on the older 4th Generation, however, it will not be able to scan barcodes as easily as other devices.

The main problem with the iPod Touch 4th Generation Camera is that it does not have auto-focus. It is a fixed focus camera and the focal length of the rear-facing camera is set quite far, so it makes it hard to scan barcodes that are close up. Because of this, large scale barcodes and QR Codes are going to work the best with it. Just like with the iPad 2, the front facing camera may work better because of its shorter focal length.

How can I make CNS Barcode open directly to the Camera view?

Version 2.0 does this automatically. If you are using an older version, then this is done by adding the “method” parameter to your URL. For example, if you had a URL like this:

cnsbarcode://scan?profile=Search

change it to:

cnsbarcode://scan?profile=Search&method=camera

Does CNS Barcode work on the iPad?

CNS Barcode runs great on all versions of the iPad from the 3rd generation up to the latest models as well as all iPad Mini models. While the app will run on the iPad 2, it will not be able to scan barcodes as easily as other devices.

The main problem with the iPad 2 Camera is that it does not have auto-focus. It is a fixed focus camera and the focal length of the rear-facing camera is set quite far, so it makes it hard to scan barcodes that are close up. Because of this, large scale barcodes and QR Codes are going to work the best with it. Just like with the iPod Touch, the front facing camera may work better because of its shorter focal length.

Do you provide Volume Purcashing for the CNS Barcode app?

We are unable to sell the app directly to customers in any quantity, however, Apple does have a Volume Purchasing program which will allow you to purchase in volume.
