This update adds Codabar support and brings many bug fixes to both versions. Description
CNS Barcode for FileMaker Pro is a plug-in that brings the power of barcodes to your FileMaker Solution. You can use CNS Barcode for iOS with FileMaker Go to do the same on your iOS device. Both the plug-in and the iOS app can scan and generate barcodes. You can either scan images containing barcodes or use the webcam on your computer or the camera on your iOS device to scan barcodes directly. Any of the barcode formats you can scan, you can also create, including Codabar, Code 3 of 9 (Code 39), Code 3 of 9 Ext. (Code 39+), Code 93, Code 128, DataBar-14, DataBar-14 Stacked, EAN (2, 5, 8, 13), EAN 14, EAN 128, Interleaved 2 of 5, ISBN, QR Code, UPC A, and UPC E.
Whether you already have products with barcodes or if you want to start using barcodes to track your assets, CNS Barcode is easy to set up and use. You can create barcodes with either the plug-in or the iOS app. The iOS app only generates PNG images, but the plug-in can generate PNG images or vector images in EPS or SVG format. You can print out and affix the barcodes to the objects you need to track. When you need to scan one of your barcodes, the plug-in uses your webcam to scan barcodes while your iOS devices uses the built-in camera (front or rear) to scan barcodes. After CNS Barcode recognizes the barcode you are trying to scan, it will perform the actions you define. The iOS app will call a script in your FileMaker Go database (or launch any other URL), while the plug-in can call a script, set a field, or simply return the data. You can also scan multiple barcodes at once with CNS Barcode.
What's New in the Plug-in
- Clarified the EAN and ISBN barcode types so they can properly be generated.
- Modified the QR Code generation to include a UTF-8 Byte Order Mark to help decoding QR Codes with non-English characters.
- Fixed a bug with generating ISBN13 barcodes that end in a 0 check digit.
- Added support for scanning and generating the Codabar barcode format.
- Added a new "Format" parameter to the Generate function to specify whether the barcode should be returned as a PNG (the default), or as a vector image in EPS or SVG format.
- Sped up barcode recognition.
- Other minor bugs.
What's New in the iOS App
- Rewrote image filtering code to fix issues with scanning blue barcodes and barcodes printed on yellow backgrounds.
- Sped up scanning with the rear camera on iPhone 4/4S and 3rd gen iPad devices.
- Sped up barcode recognition.
- Redesigned most of the main scanning interface to accommodate new features like a list of scan results, incorporating the photo scanning in a way that it can be used for multiple scans intermixed with scans from the built-in camera, detail views that include web pages from scanned barcodes, etc.
- Removed the Photo tab from the main screen (since photo scanning is now incorporated into the new, main scanning interface).
- Removed the "Disabled" text from the initial scanning interface when the app is loaded on a device with no built-in camera. Instead, tapping on the "Tap to begin Scanning!" text will bring up a view that informs the user there is no camera but they can scan photos by tapping the photo button in the toolbar.
- Changed the "Launch Barcode URLs" text in the Settings to "Auto Show URLs" because the app now uses a built-in Web View to display those URLs.
- Clarified some of the barcode type names and examples.
- Added support for scanning and generating the Codabar barcode format.
- Since there is only one scanning interface now, a cnsbarcode://scan call will automatically bring up that new scanning interface; using cnsbarcode://scan?method=photo will still bring up the photo picker, though.
- Fixed a bug with generating ISBN13 barcodes that end in a 0 check digit.
- Added support for tap-to-focus.
- Several other bugs, including crashing bugs, have been fixed.

Description
CNS Barcode for FileMaker Pro is a plug-in that brings the power of barcodes to your FileMaker Solution. Like its sibling product, CNS Barcode for iOS, this plug-in can both scan and generate barcodes. CNS Barcode can scan JPEG or PNG images containing barcodes or it can use an attached webcam to scan any barcodes held up to the camera. Any of the barcode formats you can scan, you can also create with the plug-in, including Code 3 of 9 (Code 39), Code 3 of 9 Ext. (Code 39+), Code 93, Code 128, DataBar-14, DataBar-14 Stacked, EAN 2, EAN 5, EAN 13, EAN 14, EAN 128, Interleaved 2 of 5, ISBN, QR Code, UPC A, and UPC E.
Whether you already have products with barcodes or if you want to start using barcodes to track your assets, CNS Barcode is easy to set up and use. If you need to create barcodes, the CNSBC_Generate function will take any data you have in your database and create a PNG image of the barcode format of your choosing. You can then print out and affix the barcodes to the objects you need to track. When you need to scan one of your barcodes, the CNSBC_ScanWindow function will bring up a video preview of your webcam for you to see what you are scanning. When the plug-in recognizes the barcode, it will use one of three actions that you define. It can close the scanning window and return the barcode data to the script that opened the window; it can call a script in your database and pass it the barcode data; or it can set a field in your database with the barcode data. Unlike the first action, the script calling and field setting actions leave the scanning window open for you to scan more barcodes.
